Along the coastal road that connects Cagliari to Villasimius there are many wonderful beaches. The first one is called Mari Pintau, which in Sardinian language means “painted see”, suggesting the image of a lovely picture with the crystal blue sea, the clear rocks and the green Mediterranean vegetation. Further on there is Punta Molentis, closet o the rests of a Nuraghe, an ancient tower made of stones: this lovely beach overlooks the islet of Serpentara.
The Timi Ama beach, close to the village of Villasimius, is renowned for its sandy dunes and the clear shallow sea. The Giunco beach is overlooked by an old tower and it’s made a white fine sand that fades to pink close to the shore. The wildest bay of the area is Cava Usai, nearby Cala Burroni. It is located in what was once a place of extraction of granite. Here the bottom is rocky and the sea darker, a little deeper then the surrounding beaches. Last but not least, the Spiaggia del Riso, the Rice Beach, which takes its name by the white pebbles polished by the sea.
